About This Book

An Adventure with Peter & Penny at Hudson Bay Karla Locke, photos by Joan Silling Photography A Children's Book full of fun facts about polars interweaved with the story of Peter and Penny (cubs) as mama takes them to Hudson Bay for the winter. It is at Hudson Bay where they first encounter the HUMANS. This book touches on the concerns of the environment when mama expresses her fears for her children's future as the ice, in which they need to survive, becomes less and less each year. Portions of the proceeds from this book will be donated to the Polar Bear International Organization. Their mission is to conserve polar bears and the sea ice they depend on. They also work to inspire people to care about the Arctic and its connection to our global climate. We thank them for providing us the facts about polar bears used in this book. This book is dedicated to a dear friend, Joan Silling. Joan's love for these creatures was expressed in her photography. Her last trip to Hudson Bay to see these wonderful critters was in 2011. These images are a part of the legacy she left behind and we are honored to share them in this fun and educational story.
