Turned by rogue vampires decades ago, Anne Levy was forced to abandon her tight-knit religious community. When her brother begs her to come home and investigate the bizarre livestock mutilations taking place in the area, she must face the difference between her pacifist Amish upbringing and her current life as an enforcer for the Augustine Vampire Coven.

Anne is also forced to deal with Colin Fitzgerald—a bold local lawyer trying to find the culprit despite her objections. He makes her desire a life she couldn't possibly have. Not with him. Not without robbing him of the normal life she still yearns for.

As the killer moves from animal mutilations to human, it's clear that this creature is beyond even Anne's experience. She and Colin must catch their mysterious culprit before it takes any more victims while keeping their feelings for each other at bay.
