Yet both know that the officials will not be able to solve a crime so invested in magic that only Rianrielle had a chance. Somehow, Rianrielle must find who is responsible, why they want to remove her as Ambassador, and why his messages seem to indicate a growing insanity. She had to find a way to tell Desthier that she loved him but had been deceiving him, and smooth the way for a marriage.
