About This Book

This is a tender story of a dragonfly who finds himself caught between a trampoline and the safety net. His cries for help go unnoticed as the children are engrossed in celebrating Miliana's birthday. Mr. Gundy is Miliana's neighbour. He's so miserable that the children call him Grumpy. He invades the party by threatening to call the police if the noise does not stop. The children quieten down and it's then that Dudley makes a last ditch effort to make his cries heard. The children hear the cry and go searching for the source. They find Dudley and they discuss how to free him. Mr. Gundy appears again to inform them that he will indeed be calling the police as the noise hasn't stopped. The children plead with him to help free the dragonfly, but he snarls at them and turns to leave. Josh pulls at his sleeve in an effort to get him to help Dudley. Suddenly, this mean old man turns into a caring and gentle man, a side of him the children had never seen. He frees Dudley and Mr. and Mrs. Gundy end up joining in the birthday celebrations. Dudley is one happy dragonfly.
