In a society governed by vampires, Khaelen is Executioner of the Civil Lands his authority unchallenged and unquestioned. When his brother is murdered by no other than the scourge of society, a shape shifter, he is determined to find the guilty party. What he did not expect to find was the beautiful shape shifter Allantra who sent all his emotions and self-control fluttering in the storm she created in him. From the beginning she proclaimed her innocence, and as time passed he suspected Allantra of being something much more powerful than even she conceived. In trying to prove her innocence they both became entangled in a quest for power that had been going on longer than either one suspected. Now along with Allantra they unravel a long trail of betrayal, murder and buried secrets. Somehow along the way they must not get consumed by the addicting passion that had been building since they first met.
