Gerard works on a particle accelerator project for the military in a base buried deep beneath the desert sands. It is his life's work, and he has waited years to finally activate his machine. In a flash of light, his world is turned upside down. Gerard finds himself on an unfriendly, alien world bereft of humanity, inhabited by titanic aliens as confused by his presence as he is by theirs. Gerard must find out what has happened to the Earth, and to humanity itself. Is he alone in the universe?
