Ellie Ralston, former CIA operative, is now in her 80's and recovering from a stroke suffered at her home in Majorca, Spain. Three of the physicians who treated her are studying her eidetic mind, amazing recall, to evaluate any affects from the stroke. She begins relaying the details of her adventurous life to them starting with her first of five aliases, Julie Stewart, which she used while she was on the run from those who meant her harm.
After fleeing the agency following an assignment gone wrong, and fearing for her life, she has undergone reconstructive surgery and moved to a remote lake town in the foothills of North Carolina in search of a safe place to begin writing a novel. After settling in, she quickly finds her life anything but isolated and serene. She also finds her soul mate and the love of her life.
