Diane had worked long and hard to create a good life for her two daughters Amy and Julie but thermonuclear war ripped all that away and left a bleak aftermath of horror, sickness and death for the few scattered pockets of survivors. The innocents quickly became easy prey for looters, rapists and murderers who now ruled unprotected streets and life, as she knew it, would never be the same.
For several weeks, they managed to hide from gangs and thugs but help never came and civil order became a distant memory. Finally, she realized their lives would soon end unless they escaped this living hell. They had to sneak away, escape their devastated city. But to where? They crept from their nest, hid in piles of debris, ran from shattered concrete and twisted steel to the outskirts, to the country and then, the real journey began but the scene was the same in city after city. All they could do was continue and all they had left was hope.
Eventually, they struggled up the black greasy rocks of a steep hill and saw blue skies over snow capped peaks in a land that showed no signs of war or bombs. It looked serene, peaceful and beautiful but what dangers awaited; what surprises would this strange place reveal? A new destiny began to unfold for three starving refugees who would soon discover a strange ethereal magic that would merge reality and fantasy into a new life, a new home, and some very challenging responsibilities.
