It is the year 1277. The Vampire, Aefre, has been rescued from her evil immortal sibling by the man who turned her, Constantine. She is recovering at his castle in the Tuscan hills, battling to overcome the trauma of her capture and torture. With her sire's help, she eventually returns to herself and tries to claim back her life, only to find she doesn't know what her place is anymore. Constantine struggles as he watches his beloved flounder not knowing what to do to help her. His own darkness has crept back over him and he needs her light to push it away. When she returns to him he vows to give her everything her heart desires, knowing she is the only woman that can please him, but when he learns of her deceit he takes matters into his owns hands and deceives her in return. In this first volume of The Early Years they both fight to once again find and hold onto the happiness they are seeking in each other. Will they ever be together again after a century apart, or will their own demons get in the way of their happiness?
