Deborah was not thrilled at the news of James Beaumont's return to his Yorkshire home. He was taller than she remembered, and his eyes possessed a warmth and humor she'd never noticed before. But he still had the infuriating knack for making her feel self-conscious.

It was important that he see her as a mature, level-headed woman and not as the difficult teenager whose life he'd seen fit to intrude upon in the past.

For reasons even Deborah couldn't fathom, she wanted James to acknowledge her as a woman.
