Limousin is one of these places in France that even Frenchmen don’t know about. At age six, I had never heard of the place either. When my father suggested we should spend our summers there, I immediately knew the poor man had lost his mind. Yet, over the years as I visited Limousin, I transformed from a little boy into a young man, learning about compassion, love, treason, death and prejudice. The book preserves the memory of the people, animals and way of life I encountered from 1959 to 1966. In this short time I spent with my Limousin relatives, I discovered a new world so completely different from the one I knew in my native Monaco that my life could never be the same.
