Jean Gregory's nursing skills and medical supplies could not much help the small African country torn as it was by civil war and terrorized by a blood-crazed dictator. But the beautiful English nurse was determined to try. And when American engineer Stephen Retz proposed a daring plan to hijack a train to bring food supplies to the mountains, she boldly joined him.

But conspiracy and betrayal smothered their plan. Captured by guerrillas, Jean and Stephen were forced into a coup against the dreaded dictator Forla—alive only as long as they were useful. It became too clear that if they didn't attempt the treacherous escape before their job was done, they never would.
