About This Book

The 2007 baseball season for the Southern University Savages was one of the best ever. There were many off the field distractions, but the team managed to keep winning. The Hastings twins, Chuck and John, break into a classroom building in order to steal a biology final exam that will determine whether John will be able to stay eligible for the upcoming baseball season. During the break-in, a security guard is injured. Chuck and John think they were responsible for his injury, and eventual death, until they start receiving threatening emails. They conclude that the person sending the emails is likely responsible for the guard's death. The security guard's wife, Lucille, is a treacherous woman who will stop at nothing to get what she wants. She is romantically involved with the twins' father as well as one of their teammates. Three star players from Boston, known as the Massachusetts Mafia, are key members of the team, but are in trouble most of the season. Two of them get in hot water with the mob after they kidnap an organized crime boss at the site of the national tournament. John Hastings suffers from a bleeding callous on his pitching hand late in the season and fears that his career may be over. A mysterious fan shows up at a restaurant and provides the solution to the problem.
