It was really most vexing! Two weeks into the London season and Lady Pamela Premington had already received her first offer of marriage. If only it hadn't come from the ton's most notorious rake! Lady Pamela was the first to admit that the dashing and debonair Lord Marchmont was a fine specimen of a man, but having him as a husband was another matter altogether. Indeed, it was the distinguished Lieutenant Penford on whom Pamela had set her sights. On leave from the infantry due to a war injury, he possessed a heroism and honor that made him the ideal match.
