A Rising Son

"Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith." Who among the people of God would have expected Jesus to describe in such a remarkable way a centurion in the army of their oppressors? Yet the Nazarene preacher sees in Gratius, a career soldier, someone who has learned a thing or two about authority in his years of service. Will Gratius allow himself to be led to an even more remarkable truth, that the blessing offered to one who shows mercy is that he will be a son of God?
