A Master of Speculation

Fleeing the unwelcome attentions of a young aristocrat in Hertfordshire, Meg Fitzgerald heads north, in search of her rightful inheritance. There she falls into the clutches of radical naval hero Sir John Granville, who has made his fortune by prudent investment and seemingly intends to add her to his collection. Faced with the workhouse if she fails to find employment, Meg takes a vacant maid's position in his household. Not only does Sir John suspect her intentions, he is also accustomed to getting his own way and she begins to wonder whether she might have been safer remaining in Hertfordshire. Little do they know a government spy has his eye on both of them and a dangerous adventure awaits.
