Nate McKendrick, owner of York's local paper, was photographing the scene when it happened. The fire ripped through the warehouse until the walls collapsed, killing one firefighter. This incident hit home because Nate was acquainted with fireman Jim Nolan and his lovely wife Shara. When Nate broke the news to Shara, she wept for Jim and for the baby that was growing inside her.
