When Neil Blessing walked into Flanagan's bar, sat down with the Rooftop Gang and ordered the ritual Friday-night roast beef platter, Kevin looked pleased. Andy looked uneasy. And Lulu Lenahan looked ready to spit nails.

Neil had that look that reminded Lulu that she wasn't one of the boys and never would be. When they'd been twelve years old, that look had annoyed the heck out of her.
