When Jason Lynx's neighbors, George and Betty Whitney, are murdered, Jason consoles himself with the knowledge that he always liked their dogs better than he liked the Whitneys anyway. But the hostile police officer in charge is determined to involve him, preferably as perpetrator; and Jason, an addicted puzzle solver, begins to find the case fascinating.
