Newlyweds Jake and Hannah Byler are nestled for the winter in their rustic log cabin near Montana's Cabinet Mountains. But when Hannah should be at her happiest in her new role as wife and soon-to-be mother, she becomes anxious about the mysterious noises in the night outside their door. If only the couple could move back to her childhood home in Indiana. Yet Jake insists God wants them in Montana. And when the young husband is suddenly cast into a leadership role in the Amish community, Hannah's faith in God is tested to its limits.

When Jake loses his job and money becomes scarce, Hannah becomes all the more insistent they move home to Indiana. Then tragedy strikes, and Hannah wonders if God has entirely forsaken them. In the face of adversity, Hannah must find hope once again. For her sake... and for Jake's.
