The Bastard Cadre is a fast paced series of futuristic, epic fantasy stories (without the epic word count) that includes elements of science fiction, mythology, and magic. The stories are set in post-apocalyptic Newterra where the True Gods treat the people like pieces on a game board in their never-ending wars. The world is populated with immortals, AIs, shape-shifters, cyborgs, dragons, and a host of science fiction and fantasy villains, anti-heroes, and heroines.



Avril Ethanson is a young man working as a technology salvager in the wastelands of post-apocalyptic Newterra, who—against his best intentions—is pulled into the center of the gods' wars and their chosen's schemes.



In this first installment, Avril goes on the run from an eccentric assassin and discovers the world isn't nearly as empty as he had always believed, and that sometimes, you have to take a stand and fight.
