When fatally attractive movie producer Gable McCrea picked her for his new venture, fledgling director Annabel Porter struggled to ignore his charms and prove herself a professional.

Her competence was sorely tried. The labyrinthine set and scapegrace cast guaranteed confusion, but most perplexing of all was Gable himself. One minute he seductively lit Annabel's fire, the next he doused it with puzzling aloofness. Though shooting an epic testament to love, he played tag with the real emotion.
