Dr. Barbara Jean Fairmont desperately wants a baby in her life. Being forty and single, though, her hopes for adoption are fading fast. So when old high school flame Colonel Flynn MacIntire comes back to town, his career on hold unless he can get physically fit, and prescribes a mutually convenient marriage -- she'll nurse him back to active duty and he'll become her husband so she can adopt a child -- she's willing to give this antidote to her baby woes a try.
