About This Book

Sir Spikenard ("Spike" to his friends ) embarks on an exciting mission to find his "heshbone." As the story begins, Spike figures his heshbone must be a liver-flavored bone With mysterious help from his Great Grandmother Dogsheva (Big Bubbe) and his Great Grandfather (Big Zeide), as well as his Grandfather Dr. Spanial T. ("Thor") Spanialson, the third, the Great Explorer Esq., Inc. Ph.D, Spike learns that his heshbone can be found in many places. For example, in the town of Babel, Spike finds people needing to understand one another (Binah). In towns where butchers provide dog dinner, he finds charity (Tzadakah). And, where everyone is kind to all kinds, he finds kindness (Chesed). Spike still has trouble figuring out where he can be of service (Avodah). At the very end of the story, Spike has a talk with his Grandpa, figures out his heshbone, and does a very Spike-like thing. He rolls over with his feet in the air and takes a nap
