About This Book
Had the car arrived an hour later, Nicky Partington's suicide plan would have succeeded but the unexpected arrival of the car changed that. The driver and his passenger, also on a dubious mission that night, were intending to conceal a box in the woods, but their actions were observed. Nicky, afraid of discovery, watched anxiously as the box was secreted away, and then, when they had departed, she set out to explore what had been left. It had seemed that absolutely nothing could have diverted Nicky from the road to self destruction, but in the middle of the night in the darkness of the woods, on 30th October 1995, Nicky found something which changed her life. Inside the box, was a newborn baby boy. Initially, Nicky thought him dead but then he began to move. She lifted him up, held him close, and decided to keep him. Perhaps her life would have been less traumatic had she not seen the car that night, for not only did she know that it was long and dark, she had glimpsed the number plate. She had no wish to identify those who had left the boy for fear of losing him, and in his early years, Nicky struggled as a single mother to muddy the waters that surrounded the circumstances of his birth. Lies and deceit ensued. Over time, she discovered exactly who the boy was, but she was not the only one to work things out. The truth would soon emerge. Someone else was determined to prevent that happening and would stop at nothing, even murder.
