Running short of money while traveling in Europe, Ruth Blakely goes to work at a hospital in Aberdeen, Scotland. The spunky blonde American nurse is on duty the night Rob Duncan is brought in, badly hurt in a car crash -- the result of the shock of finding his brother, Simon dead -- murdered -- in the family's cliff-top castle, Ocean Mist. At his doctor's insistence, when Rob is well enough to go home again, Ruth goes with him. The young "laird" still suffers from blackouts, a souvenir of the accident. But is Rob's behavior caused by his injuries, or is there a more sinister explanation? There are many in the castle who believe Rob is insane, that he killed his own brother. Even his coldly beautiful fiancée, Gloria McLeod, is convinced of his guilt. As Ruth battles to clear the name of the man she now loves, death returns to Ocean Mist -- exposing the nurse to a danger she cannot recognize until too late…
