A Campaign for Pam

The candidate... Every morning at 8:10 the tall, handsome redheaded young man entered the ancient elevator in the State's Capitol building and every morning Pam Pomeroy eyed him through thick dark lashes, wondering who he was. It might have been weeks before she found out, if the elevator hadn't stranded them between floors one day for an unorthodox introduction. Her companion in distress was State Senator Lex St. Johns, who was about to announce his candidacy for his party's nomination for the U.S. Senate. Impressed by Pam's help on an important anti-pollution message he was preparing, he asked her to join his campaign staff. Already a little in love with him, Pam eagerly accepted. But there were powerful forces who didn't want to see Lex win -- and didn't want it badly enough to be dangerous, not only to the senator, but to Pam.
